Praise & Worship

The praise and worship ministry at RIFC presents an exciting challenge. Just as RIFC as a whole is a new church seeking the Lord for direction in all areas, the praise and worship ministry has been seeking the Lord for direction on exactly how to build a praise and worship ministry from the ground up.

The praise and worship ministry is a whole lot more than just a group of talented musicians leading people in singing songs. It’s easy for talented musicians to perform songs well and get their audience “into” their performance. An effective praise and worship ministry draws the audience’s attention to someone other then themselves. The purpose of the praise and worship ministry is to lead God’s people into His presence. It is only in His presence that we find direction, answers, healing and wholeness.

To successfully fulfill this calling, the praise and worship ministry is taking great care in building the house right. It’s not enough to just have people with musical talent. The praise and worship ministry needs people blessed with musical talent and called by God to that ministry. A process has been developed to make sure this is true for every member of the team. First every potential member has an audition and an interview. The audition shows us if God has blessed the person with musical talent and the interview gives us the opportunity to get to know the person’s heart and personal vision. This is followed by a short time of training. The Bible says, “Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?” Amos 3:3 The purpose of the training is to let new members know what we believe about praise and worship, what the job of each member of the praise team is and what is expected out of all members. Finally, there is a time for all members to just practice with the praise team before actually ministering with the team.

These requirements aren’t in place for the purpose of making it hard to join the praise team. They are there for the sole purpose of insuring any member of the praise team is there because God has called them to be there. We believe a person who is truly called to the ministry will do what’s necessary to be properly prepared to minister.

So, is God calling you to take up the challenge? If so, let’s talk.  worship@redeemerfamily.org
